Measurements
What a building measurement means, how to record it and what it cannot prove alone.
Carbon monoxide
A dangerous combustion gas requiring working alarms and immediate safety action when detected.
Air temperature
The temperature of room or outdoor air at the measurement point.
Airflow rate
The volume of air moving through a terminal or system over time.
Average drying rate
The net reading change divided by elapsed time, used only as a trend description.
Carbon dioxide
A useful occupancy and ventilation indicator when interpreted over time.
Crack change rate
The change in measured width divided by the elapsed time between comparable observations.
Crack width
The measured opening between crack faces at a defined reference point.
Dew point
The temperature at which the current air moisture would begin to condense.
Drying net change
The difference between the first and latest comparable material reading.
Material moisture index
A comparative meter value used to map wet and dry patterns.
Pressure difference
The pressure relationship between rooms, outdoors and building cavities.
Recurrence-free interval
Time since the repair or control action without the previous symptom returning.
Relative humidity
The percentage of moisture in air relative to the maximum it can hold at that temperature.
Sensory event duration
How long a smell or sound remains detectable after its trigger begins or ends.
Surface temperature
The temperature of a material surface used to assess comfort and condensation risk.
Symptom lag
Elapsed time between a trigger event and the first recorded symptom.
Temperature difference
The difference between two measured points rather than an isolated temperature.
Verification event count
Number of relevant trigger events observed after repair without recurrence.
Weather-event match rate
The share of relevant weather events followed by a recorded symptom inside the selected lag window.
Wood moisture content
An instrument-dependent estimate of water content in wood.
