A thermal anomaly shows temperature difference, not automatically missing insulation or moisture.
Capture a useful baseline
Record the exact location, date, current weather or equipment state, recent activities and the first visible, audible, sensory or measurable change. Keep one unaffected reference point.

- Record weather and HVAC state
- Avoid reflective surfaces or note them
- Confirm with physical inspection or measurements
Compare supporting and weakening evidence
Supports the pathway
- The anomaly repeats under controlled conditions
- Construction geometry matches
- Moisture or airflow evidence corroborates it
Weakens the pathway
- Sun, reflections or equipment heat explain it
- The pattern disappears immediately
- No reference surface is available
Interpret the result conservatively
Look for a repeatable relationship between trigger, location, timing and change. Treat exceptions as useful evidence rather than forcing every event into one explanation.

Do not cut into assemblies based only on a thermal image.
Close the loop
If work is performed, repeat the same observation under a comparable trigger and through the original lag window. Record both recurrence and non-recurrence events.
