Define the question before measuring
Wind can press air and rain into one side of a house while pulling air out of the opposite side.
Capture a useful baseline
Record the exact location, date, current weather or equipment state, recent activities and the first visible, audible, sensory or measurable change. Keep one unaffected reference point.
Safe observations to repeat
- Record wind direction and speed category
- Compare windward and leeward rooms
- Photograph exterior interfaces from safe ground access
Compare supporting and weakening evidence

- One facade or corner is consistently affected
- Severity tracks wind direction more than rainfall total
- Indoor pressure or odor changes with gusts
Weakens the pathway
- Calm-weather events reproduce the symptom
- The affected face is sheltered and dry
- A plumbing cycle is the stronger trigger
Interpret the result conservatively
Look for a repeatable relationship between trigger, location, timing and change. Treat exceptions as useful evidence rather than forcing every event into one explanation.
Escalation boundary
Do not perform exterior water testing during strong wind or from unsafe access positions.
Close the loop
If work is performed, repeat the same observation under a comparable trigger and through the original lag window. Record both recurrence and non-recurrence events.
